Notes:

In spite of the improvements in modern scanners and digital cameras, the representation of
colours is difficult since the effect of the mount in real life depends on the structure of
the surface and the way the light falls. The samples you see here are the best approximation
we can achieve and can be used to make a first choice. If the exact shade is important we
would be pleased to send you our free original colour samples.

101-W gives a warm white tone due to its rough surface. It is the favourite colour. A small
group of artists/photographers prefer the colder 901-W with its smooth surface because they
consider that it has the most neutral relationship to the work. (It is obvious that
photographers can also be artists. We use the terms only to distinguish between two areas.)
102-W is the more common of the two chamois shades 102 -W and 104-W. 104-W is intended for
older drawings where the paper has yellowed. 203-W, 204-W and 301-W are a little more daring
and you either love them or hate them. 401-W is difficult to describe but is beautiful and a
good alternative to black. In 402-W and 403-W you have two very nice grey tones available.
404-W is a favourite of photographers because black contrasts well with all colours,
particularly red.

101-CB is a warm white with an elegant touch due to the Ingresbütten surface structure (fine
lines, hardly visible with lines at right angles every few centimetres). 102-CB is not as
popular but you can nearly always use this chamois coloured hue. If you still have questions
about colour, have a look at the page mount colours

And for those of you who are interested in statistics, here is a pie chart of the distribution
of the colours that were ordered from our workshop in 1999.
